Buying cheaper groceries was the most common action Japanese consumers took in response to inflation, as revealed in a survey conducted by in March 2023. Around ** percent of respondents chose lower-priced groceries to cope with inflation. Taking actions to reduce the costs of purchase was a common habit among respondents, as actively seeking out deals and shopping at discount stores were also frequently named actions.
