Remittances from Russia occupied nearly ** percent of total remittances received by Kyrgyzstan between 2019 and 2021, prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. That was the largest share compared to several other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Georgia, and Ukraine. In the first nine months of 2022, the share of Russian remittances sharply increased in Armenia relative to the pre-war period of 2019 to 2021, which was related to immigration of Russians to that country due to the war. Similar patterns were observed in Georgia and Uzbekistan.
