This question was phrased by the source as follows: "A/An [insert local terminology for ATM/debit card] is a card connected to an account at a financial institution that allows you to withdraw money, and the money is taken out of THAT ACCOUNT right away. Do you, personally, have a/an [insert local terminology for ATM/debit card]? Yes or no?"

Figures for 2021 and 2024 are forecasts from ��ƽ��. Historical figures were used in a linear trend, to form a simple trend projection. This extrapolation uses the method of least squares. Mexico was one of the few countries that did not feature in the most recent release of this survey.

Citation formats

According to a survey, *** out of four Mexicans owned a debit card in 2017 but only ** percent used one. While there was research for 2021 - which was released in mid-2022 - Mexico is one of the few countries that did not receive new figures, hence why data only goes up to 2017. The difference between ownership and usage was roughly ** percentage points in 2017, an increase when compared to 2017. The report adds that men were more likely than women to own such a payment card in the North American country. Gen Z - or the age group 15 to 24 years in this survey - generally owned fewer debit cards than their older counterparts.
