During the 19th of January 2023, thousand of protesters stormed the Peruvian capital of Lima and other regions such as Arequipa in a movement called "Lima's takeover" ("La Toma de Lima"). The demonstrators call for the resignation of Dina Boluarte and for new elections after the destitution of Pedro Castillo. According to the public opinion, more than half of the Peruvians disapprove the appointment of Dina Boluarte as president.
