The International Energy Agency's Net Zero Emissions scenario (IEA NZE) is based on a bottom-up approach. It takes into account global cooperation, universal access to sustainable energy by 2030, and minimized economic impact amid a faster reduction in CO2 emissions.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's CI-1 Renewables scenario (IPCC C1-REN) is based on keeping global temperature increases below 1.5°C. In this scenario, it is assumed that government policies striving toward 1.5°C-2.0°C climate targets will drive fossil fuel scarcity and cost.

Significant reductions in fossil fuel energy investments are called for in climate scenarios put forth by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). In the IEA NZE scenario, fossil fuel investments are projected to value at *** trillion U.S. dollars between 2041 and 2050, while the IPCC C1-REN scenario projects fossil fuel investments totaling *** trillion U.S. dollars in that same time. Both scenarios, expect low-carbon sources to make up the bulk of total energy supply funding.
