In 2022, a survey conducted in selected African countries about women's beauty perceptions found that most women in all the surveyed countries felt that a good hairstyle was empowering. The country with the highest share was Nigeria with ** percent. On the other hand, Togo was the country with the lowest rate of this perspective. However, the share was still relatively high at ** percent.
