The state of ±Ê²¹°ùá had the greatest tree cover loss in Brazil between 2001 and 2023, with roughly 17 million hectares. Overall, the leading three states accounted for 53 percent of total tree cover loss in Brazil in the period of consideration. Commodity driven deforestation is the main tree loss driver in the country, followed by shifting agriculture.
