There are three different types of SNPs:
Chronic Condition SNP (C-SNP) - for people with disabling chronic condition, such as End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), severe diabetes, dementia, or cancer.
Dual Eligible SNP (D-SNP) - for people who are eligible for coverage under both Medicare and Medicaid.
Institutional SNP (I-SNP) - for people residing in a long-term care facility, or living at home but requiring an institutional level of care.

In 2022, among the overall Special Needs Plans (SNPs) available in the United States, *** plans were for people dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, almost a fifty percent increase from *** dual SNPs in 2017. Special Needs Plans (SNPs) are Medicare Advantage plans for people with limited income or certain conditions or diseases, in general they have increased in number in the provided time period.
