An August 2021 survey asked ticket buyers of performing art events in the United States whether a series of sources influenced the decision to attend or not an event. While ** percent of respondents aged 18 to 24 believed that word of mouth was a source of influence for attending a performance, around half of the interviewees aged 75 years and older stated the same. In contrast, the perceived impact of critical reviews on attendance was higher among older respondents.
