During the years 2019 and 2020, a total of suicides were recorded in Italy among people aged 15 years and older, which is equal to a suicide rate of almost deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. This statistic shows regional differences in this figure. Aosta Valley was the region recording the highest suicide rate, with deaths per every 100,000 inhabitants. Conversely, Campania was the region with the lowest number of suicides in relation to its population size. The suicide rate in the country was much higher among men than among women.
