In 2021, the largest share of hotel establishments owned by domestic firms in Portugal fell under the category "upscale". Meanwhile, around one fifth of domestically-owned Portuguese hotels in that year were midscale. By contrast, midscale hotels accounted for ** percent of the total number of establishments belonging to international companies in Portugal.
