In 2021, almost 22 percent of parents in Spain reported blocking the mobile communication app WhatsApp on their children's mobile devices. Parents who chose to do the same in the United Kingdome were around 14 percent, while only two percent of parents in the United States reported not allowing their children to use the app. WhatsApp is one of the most popular communication apps worldwide, with approximately two billion global users as of January 2022.
