In 2024, the production volume of six inch factory wafers amounted to more than million pieces in Taiwan. A wafer is a sheet of semiconductor material that is the basis for integrated circuits and photovoltaics. The size of the wafer refers to their diameter, and the higher the diameter, the higher the technological sophistication of the product because a larger wafer means improved throughput and lower production costs. The 12 inch or 300 mm wafer is currently the largest wafer available in the industry.
