Supplementary notes
The total number of miles of each bike lane marked on the OpenStreetMap platform was calculated, filtering out subcategories that gave incorrect results when manually checked. Only bikeways located within the city lines drawn on the OpenStreetMap website were considered. The results for each city were summed and the rate in meters per capita was calculated. Ordinary roads without special markings were not taken into account. Streets where a bike path was built on both sides were counted separately.
