In a survey conducted in Nigeria in 2020, 36.5 percent of women declared that their spouse was making the decision on how to use any money they earned, for example from a job, a business, or other activities. Some 25 percent of Nigerian women, on the other hand, stated that they made such decisions themselves, while for 22.4 percent of women these decisions were made together with the husband.
