Russia was estimated to be the leading producer of natural gas-based emissions in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in 2022, at over *** billion short tons of carbon dioxide (COâ‚‚). It was followed by Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan which emitted an estimated *** million short tons of COâ‚‚ and ** million short tons of COâ‚‚, respectively.
