The vast majority of eToro's revenue in 2020 - almost ** percent - is derived from trading revenue, with the remainder being mainly from interest and currency conversion. Much of the trading revenue comes from the bid-ask spread, which is the difference between the highest price someone is willing to pay for a financial asset (such as shares), and the lowest price a seller of that asset is willing to accept. It is common practice in financial markets for the market maker to receive the bid-ask spread as a transaction cost.
