The labor force participation rate for people aged 15 years and older in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region was much higher for males at about ** percent, compared to about ** percent for females in 2019. The gross enrolment ratio for women exceeded that of men for tertiary education in 2017, however, the increased education levels did not correlate with improved employment opportunities for females.
