In 2024, roughly one out of ten women worldwide wanted to stop or delay childbearing but were not using a method of contraception. The unmet need for family planning was especially high on the African continent. Just over a fifth of married women living in West and Central Africa had an unmet need for family planning. In comparison, only **** percent of women living in North America were not using contraception yet wanted to stop or delay childbearing.
