According to a survey conducted in April 2020, close to ** percent of respondents in Japan aged 30 to 39 years agreed to some extent that it is O.K. to have children without getting married. About ** percent of respondents aged between ** to ** revealed a positive attitude toward births outside of marriage, the lowest share among surveyed age cohorts.
