In financial year 2020, the demand for steel from the Bharatmala scheme in India was estimated to about ** million metric tons. This scheme was launched with the aim to construct about ** thousand kilometers of roads across India to improve connectivity. Still in the planning phase is the Udaan project, for which around **** million metric tons of steel had been calculated to built new airports.
