Since 2014, the volume of imports performed by the footwear industry has been rather instable. It amounted to about *** million pairs in 2014, and had decreased to reach *** millions as of 2016. Apart from 2014, another peak of *** millions was reached in 2018, but the following years, the volume of imports had decreased, amounting to less than *** million pairs in 2020.
Regarding the value, imports also increased, reaching about * billion euros in 2020. At that time, the trade deficit reached almost **** billion euros.
