In 32 countries worldwide, more than **** of both women and men believe that equality between men and women will be achieved within their lifetime. Interestingly, the share was highest in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, two countries usually not associated with high levels of gender equality. On the other hand, people were most pessimistic in the East Asian countries such as Japan, where only ** percent of women believed that gender equality would be achieved within their lifetime.
