In 2024, Hyundai Motor Company's small-sized truck model, Porter 2, was the best-selling commercial vehicle in South Korea, achieving more than **** thousand unit sales. In second place was Kia's small truck model Bongo 3. 

Hyundai Motor’s dominance

Four out of the ten commercial vehicles shown in the list were models from Hyundai Motor Company, which highlighted the automaker’s strong presence across different automotive segments in the domestic market. The leader of the South Korean automotive industry was also active in the automotive parts supply chain, with its subsidiary supplier companies boasting a significant presence in the supplier market.

Bigger is better

South Korean consumers displayed an affinity towards larger vehicle models, with Recreational Vehicles (RVs) being especially popular in the domestic automobile scene. Mainly characterized by its spacious interior, this particular vehicle segment included Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs), Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs), Wagons, pickup trucks, and even Crossover Utility Vehicles (CUVs). An example of the popularity of the RV segment was that it was the most lucrative segment for Hyundai Motor Company.
