As of July 2025, the Ohi-3 and Ohi-4 nuclear power plants of Kyushu Electric Power, as well as the Genkai-3 and Genkai-4 nuclear power plants of Kansai Electric Power, each reached an output of around **** thousand megawatt electrical. After the nuclear disaster in Fukushima Prefecture in 2011, all nuclear reactors in Japan were shut down for safety inspections. The first reactors were restarted in 2015.
