In 2022, the production value of the biotechnology industry accounted for around 1.5 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) in Spain, up from about 0.6 percent recorded in 2010. This figure saw an overall increase throughout the period analyzed. During the last year depicted, the production value of the Spanish biotech industry was estimated at approximately 20 billion euros.
