Citation formats

Under the "Sustainable Development Scenario", emissions from all modes of transportation would reduce considerably over the coming decades. Presently, these transportation modes emit roughly seven gigatons of carbon dioxide every year. However, with technological innovations, low-carbon fuel use and electrification, emissions from this sector could potentially drop to one gigaton of CO₂ a year. By this period, several modes of transportation will have transitioned away from fossil fuels completely.
