Conventional robots are programmed to carry out specific actions, thus following a rather rigid set of instructions and not acting autonomously. Advanced robots, in contrast, are aware of their environment and react to it, making autonomous decisions about what actions to perform.

In 2019, nearly all manufacturing companies in China wanted to implement advanced robotics in their operations within the following three years. German companies showed similar enthusiasm when ** percent of them expressed the same intent. In Japan, however, only ** percent of manufacturing companies were planning to use advanced robots between 2019 and 2021, even though the Japanese industry has one of the highest robot density in the world.
