Conventional robots are programmed to carry out specific actions, thus following a rather rigid set of instructions and not acting autonomously. Advanced robots, in contrast, are aware of their environment and react to it, making autonomous decisions about what actions to perform.
In logistics, conventional robots usually take on forms of automated vehicles relying on support from dedicated infrastructure such as magnetic strips. Advanced robots, on the other hand, can move without such infrastructure, relying instead on their sensors to perceive the environment.
