The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic was expected to affect Ghana's current account in 2020 and 2021. Under a worst-case scenario, where the pandemic persisted through December 2020, the current account deficit for the same year was projected to reach minus *** percent of the GDP. Comparatively, the account outlook before coronavirus was at minus * percent of the GDP for the year 2020 and at minus *** percent for 2021. Furthermore, the account balance deficit was revised at minus *** percent of GDP for 2020 and at minus *** of GDP for 2021, considering the impact of the virus under a baseline scenario.
