In the fiscal year 2020, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in Japan planned to utilize around ** billion Japanese yen for an emergency aid package supporting sports and cultural activities following the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). About **** billion yen were prepared for the support of schools to reopen with a safe learning environment after the countrywide closing down due to the spread of COVID-19 infections.
