Both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, beer was the most frequently consumed alcoholic beverage in Latin American and the Caribbean. According to a survey carried out in the region, beer was consumed by **** percent of respondents who consumed alcoholic drinks in 2019. While this figure decreased by *** percentage points between March and June 2020, beer was still by far the favorite. In comparison, the second favorite beverage – wine – was consumed by **** percent of respondents in 2019. The beverage gained popularity during the pandemic, with the share of consumers increasing by *** percentage points during the period analized in 2020, when compared to 2019.
