In 2020, roughly half of Dutch consumers aged 18 to 35 stated they have started shopping on their own as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the social distancing rules that stemmed from it. Approximately *** out of ten Dutch shoppers aged 55 and over have started doing the same. Before the days of COVID-19, only about a quarter of young people in the Netherlands would go shopping alone.
