In 2019, the professional soccer tournament Copa América was an important driver for inbound tourism in Brazil. In the wake of this event, the number of travel bookings to the country by Bolivians rose by 497 percent between mid-June and the beginning of July, when the tournament took place. Meanwhile, Peruvians increased their reservations for that same period by more than 280 percent. Bookings from Argentina, the main country of origin of foreign tourists in Brazil, went up 64 percent during the sport event.
