In 2024, around **** million vehicles were produced at Hyundai Motor Company's plant in Ulsan, South Korea. The Ulsan plant had the highest production volume out of the company's manufacturing facilities, both domestically and internationally. 

Hyundai Motor's main factory

Hyundai Motor Company was one of South Korea’s largest companies, and it operated various production facilities for the manufacturing and selling of automobiles on a global scale. Out of its three factories located in South Korea, the Ulsan factory’s level of production was far larger than that of its domestic peers. Established in 1968, the factory boasted a direct connection to an on-site harbor, which facilitated the transportation of finished products. 

A history of labor disputes

The large scale of production operations in the company also put Hyundai Motor Company at the heart of several large-scale strikes that occurred from labor disputes between the company and its employees. The decreases in production volume recorded in 2016 and 2017 corresponded to the long strikes that happened in those years. Such disruptions in production incurred losses for the company during those periods.
