The source collected data between May and September 2019, with a follow-up review in February and March 2020.

The source chose beaches according to importance of it based on traffic of people to the beaches, sites, and potential pollution risks.

As of 2014, the Moroccan authorities issued a new standard "NM 03.7.199" of monitoring and managing bathing water quality.

In 2020, *** beaches were included by the Moroccan authorities to measure water quality. Between 2002 and 2020, the number of beaches in which samples were taken to monitor and measure bathing water quality increased steadily, representing an increase of * percent. Furthermore, due to the importance of tourism for Morocco, authorities set a new standard to monitor bathing water quality as of 2014.
