In 2022, more than 97 percent of bathing waters assessed in England met the minimum standards. In particular, over 72 percent were classified as excellent. However, the proportion of bathing sites in England ranked as excellent is lower than in many other European countries, with Cyprus achieving the highest ranking in 2022, with over 99 percent of bathing sites having excellent quality.
