While there are several motives for committing fraud among French policyholders, there are also several types of insurance fraud in France. One method is to commit fraud when the claim occurs, the other is to do so when the risk is underwritten. In the latter case, the fraudulent act may therefore consist in insuring a risk on which a claim already exists without informing the insurer. However, only percent of the respondents had committed this type of fraud at least once in 2019.
