At the beginning of March 2020, the Italian government imposed a national lockdown in order to reduce the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. A research conducted in March 2020 shows that, during the lockdown, Italy recorded a sharp increase in film and TV piracy. Data related to the last week of March 2020 reveal that film piracy rose by ** percent compared to the last week of February 2020. Similarly, TV piracy grew by ** percent compared to the week prior to the national lockdown.
