South Korean citizens are able to purchase tobacco from January 1st of the year that they would turn 19 years of age. While there is no law that forbids underage smoking, it is illegal for others to provide any means through which underage youth can smoke.

In 2020, about **** percent of male underage youth in South Korea had smoked at least once. Underage smoking continued increased for both genders until 2011. Since then, it has drastically decreased in recent years.
