The Bank of Tanzania monitors economic developments at micro-level basing on six zones: Central (Dodoma, Morogoro, Singida, and Tabora regions), Dar es Salaam, South Eastern (Ruvuma, Coast, Lindi, and Mtwara regions), Lake (Geita, Kagera, Kigoma, Mara, Mwanza, Shinyanga, and Simiyu), Northern (Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, and Tanga), and Southern Highlands (Iringa, Katavi, Mbeya, Njombe, Rukwa, and Songwe).
As of December 2020, the South Eastern zone of Tanzania registered the highest Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the country, at points. The lowest CPI was measured in the Central zone at points. At the same date, the national average amounted to points. The indicator tracks changes over time on prices of a basket of consumer goods and services.
