In the second quarter of 2020, the revenues generated by Latin American airlines through passenger transportation plunged by ** percent in comparison to the same period of the previous year, due to the global restrictions imposed on travel as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In contrast, airlines' cargo revenues increased by ** percent in those three months. Nevertheless, this could not make up for the revenue losses in air passenger transportation in this industry. By the end of 2020, the airport industry in Latin America and the Caribbean could lose up to *** billion U.S. dollars in revenue, when compared to a pre-COVID-19 scenario.
