In 2022, there was a vast treatment gap among U.S. veterans for substance use disorder and mental illness. Around 81.2 percent of veterans with a substance use disorder reported no treatment in the past year, and 49.2 percent of those with any mental illness also reported no treatment. The statistic illustrates the percentage of U.S. veterans aged 18 years and over who reported no treatment for substance use disorder or any mental illness in the past year as of 2022.
