Of the 10,870 public comments, 1,133 (10.4 percent) were reported as hate speech and analyzed in this study."

Assessing the exchanges of French Facebook commentators on various media pages in March 2018 revealed that, among the most hate-filled categories of words or the source of insults, generic displays of aggression were the most frequent. Another source of hateful comments were public personalities and the general media, with around ** percent, followed by ethnic remarks and social discrimination. With less than **** percent, religion was also a subject for discrimination.
