The percentage of food expenditure destined to out-of-home food by Brazilian households increased *** percentage points within a decade, according to a national survey. In 2008 and 2009, Brazilian households spent an average of **** percent of their total monthly food expenses on food away from home. In 2017 and 2018, this share went up to **** percent. This growth was particularly noticeable in rural areas, where out-of-home food spending went from **** percent in the period **** to ** percent in ****, an increase of *** percentage points.
