According to recent forecasts, the usage of high sulfur fuel oil (HSFO) in ships worldwide will to drop significantly in 2020. While HSFO accounted for ** per cent of the global fuel tank capacity in 2019, only ** per cent will be used for this type of fuel in 2020. Most ships will switch to very-low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) to remain compliant with the global sulfur cap, enforced on January 1, 2020.
