Maternal mortality sharply decreased in 2022 both in urban and rural areas. In cities, **** deaths of mothers per 100 thousand live births were recorded, down from **** deaths per 100 thousand live births in the previous year.
Maternal mortality in rural areas of Russia was historically higher than in cities.
