Soybean accounted for nearly 289 billion Indian rupees in the Indian economy in fiscal year 2021. This variety of oilseeds made up over 23 percent of the sector that year. Oilseeds, overall contributed over eight percent to the GVA of crops that same year, a decrease from nine percent in fiscal year 2012.
