According to a survey conducted in Malaysia in 2019, about ** percent of respondents did not save money because they were focusing on paying off their debts first. In 2018, the highest share of respondents saving any money in the past year was among people between the age of 15 and 24 years, with around ** percent, while only about ** percent of surveyed respondents with primary education or less saved any money.
