In Russian households with a combined monthly income under ** thousand Russian rubles, ** percent preferred to pay with cash as of 2019. The share of those preferring the traditional payment method decreased with the growing income of respondents. Among families earning over ** thousand Russian rubles per month, more than one half mostly employed cashless payment instruments, compared to ** percent using cash. In the first quarter of 2019, the highest share of cashless transactions across the country was conducted in restaurants in bars.
